Love this lens! Super excited to take it on our trip to Sedona
So I've had the lens and case for about a week now. Dead of winter here in central Illinois, so haven't been able to get out and about with it all that much. However, I have managed to take some shots using the Wide Angle. I am shooting with the iPhone11 Pro Max and the 11's night shooting capabilities is the main reason I bought the Sandmarc lens, since the iPhones integrated ultra-wide couldn't be used with the night shift mode of the iPhone. I'm pleased to say that I couldn't be happier with the results. Sharpness seems native to me, meaning as good as the ultra-wide built into the 11. In Lightroom I did a 3-1 comparison and could see no difference in the sharpness. Edge sharpness may be a tad softer but I'm being picky. Really almost no difference at all. The lens screws on very nicely, even with gloves on. The case is also very well made and the milled aluminum ****** that accommodates the lenses is beautifully machined. My only negative criticism of the case ( and this is comparing it to my Torras case which it is replacing) is that it could be a little less slick. The Pro Max is a heavy phone. When holding the phone in one's hand, the slicker the case, the tighter you have to grip-tiring the hand. So, I have to use a tighter grip on the Sandmarc case then on my Torras case. It's a small negative and really the only one I can find with this lens and case. That is why, at this point in time, I am giving it five stars.
This lens makes a massive difference! It’s VERY high quality and has solid construction. You no longer have to struggle to squeeze in the entire content, especially in tight areas like while filiming indoors. I highly recommend getting this lense even if you’re just someone who occasionally uses their iphone for making videos.
Having worked professionally as a fashion photographer for 40 years I researched this product and the company thoroughly. I was not disappointed. It is a solid piece of glass, optically correct from the centre of the frame to the edges. The build is of a professional standard and in my opinion, considering all of the above, is priced competitively and below what I would expect.
