Telephoto lens is amazing, used it on vacation & got some extremely good shots! I would recommend getting the package of all 3 as I just now see it. Double the price with triple the lenses! Quality is great, the lens is heavy, all metal around screws into the case for awesome support while moving & capturing shots!
Like all Sandmarc lenses rhe quality is evident from the moment you have it in your hands. BUT wait until you put it on your phone and you won’ Believe the superb magnification and photos. I am using it in the secondary (2x) lens spot with ProCam 6 for a total 4x optical magnification-WOW! Going to use it tonight at a local Concert-on-the-Common. This will breing the action right to me!
I really like it!!!!!
iPhone portrait mode + telephoto lens + low lighting = a fire a** pic (Excuse my language, it’s just passion)
I love street photography, for which a good telephoto lens is a really big deal. Before buying from Sandmarc, I had previously tried and returned a competitor's 58mm smartphone telephoto lens and found the images produced were blurry beyond salvage. There isn't as much of that with the Sandmarc telephoto lens. I'm really happy with this set - the quality is quite good. There is some visible chromatic aberration along edges, especially in well-lit scenes, which could bother some shooters. Additionally, because phones use software to sharpen the images in postprocessing, I don't think their algorithms are as able to adjust for an unknown external lens, so your images will still be a little blurrier than the native lens but otherwise very good, and again, much better than my experience with the competitor lens. If you're hoping to use this as a viable portrait mode substitute on a dual-camera iPhone, I'd argue against it, as the built-in software on the X produces a stronger bokeh effect that you can manually adjust via third-party apps. But the 3-4x optical zoom aspect of it - using this over the X's native telephoto lens - is excellent, especially in good lighting, and has really made a difference in the photos I can compose and capture. Given that it includes a mounting mechanism AND rear lens cover for the $100, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it over other more expensive and well-known competitors, who will charge you extra for both (ridiculous). I would have given this 5 stars but have to downgrade it to 4 for the quality of the included case. It's nice that it's free, but it's very thin and doesn't rise above the front of the phone. Additionally, it doesn't cover the phone's top or bottom at all, and the plastic itself is so flimsy and yields so little tolerance it's already cracked at the bottom corners; I've owned this case for less than a month and have no idea when its bottom end will give out while I'm shooting. It's not protective. Competitors sell mounting cases so bulky you can't fit them in your pocket, but this one is so thin your phone is basically *****. It's concerning when you're holding your $1000+ phone AND a $100 telephoto lens running around trying to shoot great photos! I sincerely wish they had struck a happy medium and included a better case with the set. Not only would you then be purchasing a great lens, but also the peace of mind that your investment(s) have some real protection. That's probably my one major and continued disappointment with this purchase, but from a photo quality standpoint, I would still recommend it over its prominent and most direct competitors.
