San Diego, California — SANDMARC today announces the SANDMARC Camera app, the only camera app built specifically for SANDMARC lenses, designed for everyone from first-time shooters to seasoned photographers.
Native Integration with SANDMARC Lenses
The free SANDMARC Camera app is designed specifically to support the SANDMARC lens ecosystem, allowing users to configure the software to match their specific attached lens. Focused entirely on photography, this is strictly a photo app and does not support video capture or the Anamorphic Lens. Video feature coming soon.
By tapping the lens selection tool, users can immediately sync the app to their corresponding SANDMARC lens, with the option to save frequently used lenses for faster switching. The application also remains fully functional for standard shooting when no accessory lens is attached.
Manual Exposure and Composition Adjustments
The app features an integrated settings wheel that provides manual control over the camera's capture variables. Users can adjust exposure values (EV), manage shutter speed, modify ISO parameters, and lock focus manually. White balance can also be adjusted to ensure accurate color reproduction. For composition, a dedicated button allows users to switch between standard 4:3, square, and 16:9 widescreen aspect ratios directly from the main view.
Real-Time Monitoring Tools
To assist with exposure accuracy and focus, the software incorporates a suite of standard monitoring utilities. This includes live Luma and RGB histograms, a False Color exposure overlay, and zebra warnings for highlight clipping. Sharpness can be verified before capture using focus peaking, while a grid and digital leveler assist with frame alignment.
Multiple Processing Modes
To fit different post-production workflows, the app includes four distinct image processing options. Standard mode uses Apple's default computational processing, while Minimal mode speeds up capture times by minimizing computational adjustments. For workflows requiring uncompressed sensor data and maximum post-processing flexibility, RAW mode provides direct sensor data, whereas ProRAW mode combines Apple’s computational photography framework with raw data retention.
In-App Gallery and Metadata Tracking
Images are saved directly to an internal gallery that organizes files and acts as an archive. Swiping up on any captured image brings up a detailed metadata view, displaying the exact manual settings, processing mode, and specific lens profile used during the shot.
