Aerial Filters for DJI: Explained!

Posted on

Aerial Filters allow you to get a smoother, better exposed videos and prevent the common jello effect seen on aerial videos. Watch video below.

There are different variations of filters and each have different functions. The most notable in the photography world are neutral density (ND) filters. ND Filters range from ND to ND128 with the common ones being ND4, ND8, ND16 and ND32 Filters. The higher the ND number, the more light it will prevent from coming through the lens.

So which filter is best for your filming? It will depend on two factors:

  • Weather Conditions
  • Your filming objective

The sunnier and brighter days require higher amount of light reduction to give you a cinematic look for your videos. Our recommended filter for such conditions is the ND8 or ND16 Filter. Darker and cloudier days need lower range ND filters. Our recommended filter for such conditions is the ND4 Filter.
